Product Design and Development
From the idea in your head to the product in your customer's hands

Hardware Product Development Company India

Building a physical product is harder than most people expect. Not because the idea is wrong, but because turning a concept into a manufacturable, market-ready product requires the right team, the right process, and the right partner at every stage.

At iMAC Design and Engineering, we bring your hardware product from concept to market. Industrial design, mechanical engineering, embedded systems, prototyping, tooling, and manufacturing all under one roof with one team.

What Is Hardware Product Development and Why Most Products Never Make It to Market?

Most founders and engineering teams work with multiple vendors at different stages. One handles design, another handles engineering, another handles prototyping, and yet another handles manufacturing. Every time the project moves to a new vendor, time is lost explaining what was already decided. Costs go up. Deadlines get pushed. And by the time the product reaches manufacturing, nobody remembers why certain design decisions were made in the first place.

At iMAC, your product stays with one team from the first sketch to the final manufactured component. The engineer who designs your product also reviews it for manufacturing. The team that builds your prototype is the same team that develops your tooling. Every decision made in design is remembered in manufacturing because the same people made it.

Where Are You in Your Product Journey?

You have an idea, a prototype, an existing product, or an overloaded internal team. Wherever you are, we can take the product forward without forcing you to coordinate five different vendors.

01

You have an idea. No drawings, no team.

You know the problem you are solving. You just need someone who can take it from there. Validate it, design it, build it, and get it to market. Without you having to manage five different vendors.

02

You have a prototype. Now you need manufacturing.

You got it working in the lab. But the jump from working prototype to manufactured product is where most hardware startups hit a wall. You need DFM, tooling, and a manufacturing partner who was there when the product was designed. Not someone reading your drawings cold.

03

You have a product. It needs to be better.

Cost is too high. A new market requires compliance changes. The product works but manufacturing is inconsistent. You need an engineering partner who can pick it up mid-journey, understand what exists, and improve it without breaking it.

04

Your team is full. The pipeline is not.

Your engineers are stretched across existing projects. A new product is waiting. You need a structured outsource partner with weekly reporting, NDA-first engagement, and the technical depth to work independently.

What We Do Outsource Product Development India

We cover every discipline needed to take a physical product from concept to market.

01

Industrial Design

How your product looks, feels, and how people use it. Form, CMF, and ergonomics. Every aesthetic decision made with manufacturing in mind from the first sketch.

02

Mechanical and Product Engineering

Structural design, tolerance analysis, DFM, DFMEA, and enclosure design for injection molding and sheet metal. CAD in SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, and AutoCAD.

03

Embedded Systems and IoT

Schematic design, PCB layout, firmware development, and wireless connectivity including BLE, WiFi, Zigbee, and LoRa. Cloud integration for connected products.

04

Prototyping

Alpha and beta validation models, functional prototypes for investor pitches and testing. In-house 3D printing, CNC machining, and fabrication. Fast turnaround, no outsourcing.

05

Product Validation and Testing

Functional testing, pre-compliance EMC review, and design validation documentation. DHF, DFMEA, and risk management per ISO 14971 for medical products.

06

Tooling and Manufacturing

Injection mold design, sheet metal fabrication, CNC/VMC machining, and production from small batch to scaled volume. ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Concept to Market Product Development
How We Work in Seven Stages

Most hardware products do not fail because the idea was bad. They fail because decisions were made in the wrong order. A tooling commitment before DFM. A prototype before IP was protected. A compliance submission before pre-compliance review.

iMAC follows a strict 7-stage process that sequences every decision correctly so your product moves forward without costly surprises.

Stage 1

Design Research

We start by understanding your product, your market, and your users before any design begins. This stage defines the problem clearly so every subsequent decision solves the right thing.

Stage 2

Innovation and IP Strategy

Before any detailed design is created, we identify what is novel in your product and protect it. Prior art search, invention disclosures, and IP gap assessment happen here — not after launch.

Stage 3

Product Design

Industrial design, form development, CMF, ergonomics, and user interaction. Your product takes visual and physical shape here. Every aesthetic decision is evaluated against manufacturing feasibility from the first sketch.

Stage 4

Engineering

Mechanical engineering, structural analysis, tolerance stack-up, enclosure design, PCB layout, embedded systems, and firmware development. This is where your product becomes buildable.

Stage 5

Prototyping

Alpha and beta validation models built in-house. Functional prototypes for testing, investor presentations, and pre-compliance evaluation. Fast turnaround with no outsourcing.

Stage 6

Tooling

Mold design and tooling development based on a validated design and completed DFM review. No tooling investment is made before the design is confirmed to be manufacturable.

Stage 7

Manufacturing

Injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, and production from small batch to scaled volume. The same team that designed your product takes it into production.

FAQs

Questions We Get Asked Before Every Engagement

Everything founders, product teams, and manufacturing-ready teams usually want to know before we begin.

We take physical product ideas through the full development journey: industrial design, engineering, prototyping, and manufacturing. Think of us as the technical co-founder you do not have on payroll. A design studio stops at CAD. A manufacturer starts from finished drawings. iMAC connects everything in between.

Yes and most of our best projects started exactly that way. Our first stage, Design Research, is specifically built to take a raw idea and turn it into a validated, feasible product direction before any detailed engineering begins. You do not need to come prepared with technical documents.

A straightforward mechanical product takes 4 to 6 months to prototype and 8 to 12 months to production tooling. A smart IoT or medical device product takes 9 to 18 months from concept to certified production. The biggest timeline risk is not complexity. It is unclear requirements and decisions made in the wrong order. Our process is designed to eliminate both.

Industrial design and CAD for a mechanical product typically ranges from ₹3 to 8 lakhs. A full concept to prototype engagement ranges from ₹8 to 25 lakhs depending on complexity. Products with embedded systems, IoT, or medical compliance add engineering depth and cost. We give you a detailed scope and cost estimate after the first consultation before any commitment is made.

Design for Manufacturing is the practice of designing your product so it can actually be made consistently, at cost, and at volume. It looks at wall thickness, draft angles, parting lines, material choices, and tolerances against your chosen manufacturing process. Products that skip DFM prototype fine and fail at tooling. We run DFM review in Phase 3 before any tooling spend is authorised.

Both. Tooling design, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, and CNC machining are all part of what we do. You do not need a separate manufacturing partner for products iMAC designs. The team that designed your product is the same team that takes it into production.

NDA before anything is shared, always. We are ISO 27001:2013 certified which means information security controls are not a promise. They are an audited operational system. We also offer IP strategy as a service including prior art searches, invention disclosures, and patent coordination so your innovation is legally protected before development begins.
