Physical part to digitise or CAD drawings to deliver? We handle both.

01

3D Scanning and Reverse Engineering

You have a physical part and need a CAD file that works for manufacturing. We scan your part in-house, process the point cloud, and deliver a parametric CAD model built with engineering intent, not just a visual mesh. Your team can open it, modify it, and take it straight into production.

  • Manufacturers with legacy parts and no drawings
  • OEMs recreating discontinued components
  • Product companies digitising existing hardware
  • Quality inspection against original CAD
02

Mechanical CAD Support, On Demand

Your engineering team has a backlog. Hiring is slow. We work as an extension of your mechanical engineering team. 2D drawings, 3D models, assembly documentation, manufacturing drawings with GD&T, and BOM development. Delivered to your standard, on your timeline.

  • Engineering managers with overflow CAD work
  • Hardware product companies needing ongoing CAD support
  • Teams needing specific development stages handled by a qualified mechanical engineering team

Reverse engineering and CAD services for manufacturers India

3D scanning is the fastest and most accurate way to get a physical part into a CAD system. Instead of hours of manual measurement with calipers and gauges, our scanner captures the complete geometry of your part in minutes and converts it into a precise digital model that reflects the actual shape and dimensions of what was made.

No Drawings? We Build the CAD From Your Physical Part

Send us your component. We scan it, process the data, and convert it into a production-ready parametric CAD model in your required format. The model is built with engineering intent so your team can open it, modify it, and use it directly for manufacturing, further engineering, or tooling development. This is what most scanning companies do not deliver. A mesh file is not a usable CAD model. We give you the model your engineers actually need.

Product Redesign Starting From Existing Hardware

Have a product that works but needs improvement, cost reduction, or manufacturing optimisation? We scan the current version, rebuild the CAD with full engineering intent, and give you an editable parametric model you can work from going forward. Faster and more accurate than rebuilding from scratch.

Legacy Part Recreation for Manufacturers

Original drawings lost. Supplier discontinued. OEM no longer providing support. We scan the physical part, reconstruct the CAD geometry with manufacturing accuracy, and deliver a documented model that can be used to manufacture replacements without depending on any third party.

Quality Inspection and Deviation Analysis

We scan produced parts and compare them against the original CAD model. The output is a colour deviation map showing exactly where the manufactured part differs from the design intent. Used for tooling validation, first article inspection, and ongoing production quality checks.

On-Site Scanning Available

For parts that cannot be transported, our engineer brings the scanner to your facility. Available across Gujarat and by arrangement across India. Contact us to confirm your location.

Mechanical CAD Drafting for Hardware Product Companies India

Your engineering team is building products. The CAD backlog is slowing everything down. Hiring a full-time drafter takes months and costs more than the workload justifies. Sending it to a generic CAD outsourcing company means spending more time explaining context than you save.

iMAC is different because we are a mechanical product engineering company first. When you outsource CAD work to us, you are working with engineers who understand hardware products, manufacturing constraints, tolerances, and DFM. Not drafters who trace your sketches.

2D Mechanical Manufacturing Drawings

Detailed manufacturing drawings with full GD&T, surface finish callouts, and tolerance specifications. Delivered in DWG, DXF, or PDF to your drawing standard and your title block.

3D CAD Modelling for Product Development

Parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies modelled in SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360. Parametric models built with design intent so future modifications are clean and do not require rebuilding.

Legacy 2D to 3D Conversion

Old paper drawings or flat 2D DWG files converted to fully featured parametric 3D CAD models. Used by manufacturers modernising their documentation or preparing legacy products for new tooling.

Manufacturing Drawing Packages

Complete drawing packages for manufacturing handover including part drawings, assembly drawings, BOM, and tolerance specifications. Everything a manufacturer needs to produce your product accurately without coming back for clarification.

BOM Development

Structured Bills of Materials with part numbers, descriptions, quantities, materials, and supplier references. Formatted to your ERP or PLM system requirements.

How to Engage

Choose the engagement model that fits your current workload, team structure, and delivery urgency. We support fixed-scope CAD packages, flexible engineering hours, and retained capacity when you need dependable CAD output over a longer period.

  • Project based for a defined scope
  • Hourly for ongoing support
  • Monthly retainer for consistent CAD bandwidth

Why Our 3D Scanning Is Built for Engineering Use, Not Just Visualisation

There is an important difference between a 3D scan that looks accurate and a 3D scan that is accurate enough for engineering and manufacturing. A scan that captures approximate visual geometry but misses critical tolerances or feature relationships is not an engineering asset. It creates problems later in the process when the CAD model does not match what actually needs to be manufactured.

iMAC's scanning workflow is built for engineering output from the first step.

01

In-House Scanning at Our Ahmedabad Facility

We use industrial-grade handheld 3D scanners suitable for parts ranging from small precision components to large assemblies. All scanning is done in-house in our Ahmedabad facility. No third-party scanning vendors, no handoffs, full quality control under our roof.

02

Processing for Engineering Use

Raw scan data is processed using industry-standard reverse engineering software. We clean the point cloud, generate a watertight mesh, and extract parametric CAD geometry with engineering intent. Every model goes through a quality check against the physical part before delivery.

FAQs

Questions We Get Asked Before Every Engagement

Everything founders, product teams, and manufacturing-ready teams usually want to know before we begin.

3D scanning is the process of capturing the physical geometry of a part as a digital point cloud. Reverse engineering is the process of using that scan data to rebuild a fully parametric, editable CAD model that reflects the engineering intent of the original part. You can have a scan without reverse engineering but you end up with a mesh file, not a usable CAD model. Most clients who come to us for scanning actually need reverse engineering so they walk away with a file their engineering team can work with, not just view.

The most accurate and efficient method is 3D scanning followed by reverse engineering. Your physical part is scanned using an industrial 3D scanner that captures millions of data points. The resulting point cloud is processed into a mesh and then converted into a parametric CAD model with full engineering intent. The final file is delivered in STEP, IGES, or native SolidWorks format depending on your requirement. iMAC handles the complete workflow in-house at our Ahmedabad facility, from receiving your part to delivering the production-ready CAD model.

The raw output of a 3D scanner is a point cloud, typically in formats like .XYZ or .PTX. After processing, the mesh is delivered in STL or OBJ format. After reverse engineering, the parametric CAD model is delivered in STEP or IGES for universal compatibility, or in native SolidWorks SLDPRT format for clients working in SolidWorks. 2D manufacturing drawings are delivered in DWG and PDF. If you need a specific format for your CAD software, confirm this at the time of enquiry.

A simple mechanical part typically takes 2 to 4 working days from receipt of the part to delivery of the CAD model. Complex assemblies or parts requiring detailed reverse engineering typically take 5 to 10 working days. We confirm the timeline when you send the part details so there are no surprises after the work begins.

No. The entire point of 3D scanning is that you do not have drawings. We work from the physical part alone. If you had original drawings, you would not need us to scan it. We regularly receive parts with no documentation at all and deliver fully featured CAD models from the physical part only.

Generic CAD outsourcing companies are mostly set up for architecture, construction, and MEP work. When a hardware product company sends mechanical drawings to them, there is a constant back and forth explaining manufacturing context, tolerances, and DFM requirements that a general drafter does not understand. iMAC is a mechanical product engineering company. When you send us CAD work, our engineers understand what the part does, how it will be manufactured, and what the drawing needs to communicate to the production team. The work gets done correctly the first time without the explanation overhead.

Yes. For parts that are too large, too heavy, or too fixed to transport, our engineer brings the scanning equipment to your location. On-site scanning is available across Gujarat and by arrangement across India. Contact us with your location and part details to confirm availability.

We work on project-based, hourly, and monthly retainer models. There is no minimum commitment for project-based work. You share the scope, we quote the cost and timeline, and you decide before any work begins. For ongoing support, a monthly retainer gives you consistent CAD bandwidth without committing to a full-time hire.
